Slow settlements and broken app

Over 30 min to settle bets is terrible and are sometimes settled incorrectly. Horrible app, might have been put together by some teenagers because nothing works properly lol. You have to go into live chat and complain just to recieve bonuses that you're owed. I have found out the hard way that POINTSBET.COM.AU have no regard for the Regulations, Codes and Acts of Parliament which Online Wagering Providers are supposed to play by.

So, is PointsBet any good for Australian bettors? In short, yesβ€”particularly for sports and racing customers who value a clean mobile experience, competitive markets and PointsBetting rather than a casino-style product. PointsBet is a fully domestic sportsbook with an Australian licence, AUD payments and native apps for iOS and Android.

The platform is not designed to be an all-purpose gambling destination. There are no casino games or online slots, and Australian law prevents licensed operators from offering those services online. Instead, PointsBet concentrates its product investment on sports betting, horse racing, multi bets, live markets and its proprietary spread-betting format.

That focus matters. From a product and distribution perspective, a specialist sportsbook can deliver a more coherent customer journey than a platform attempting to cover every gambling vertical. The main question is whether its odds, markets, app, promotions, payment options and support match your betting style.

PointsBet review: the short verdict

Category Assessment
Legitimacy Strong: Australian operator with Northern Territory licensing
Sports coverage Broad mainstream coverage with selected in-play markets
Racing Available through Australian racing feeds and live racing content
PointsBetting A distinctive product for customers comfortable with variable returns
Mobile betting Native iOS and Android apps, plus a mobile website
Payments Visa, Mastercard, PayID, POLi, PayPal, bank transfer and cash deposit
Withdrawals PayID withdrawals can arrive in under one hour after approval
Welcome offer No standard welcome bonus listed; Australian advertising and inducement rules apply
Casino Not available, reflecting Australian online gambling restrictions

PointsBet is a good fit for Australian sports bettors who want a locally regulated account and a recognisable betting app. The strongest differentiator is PointsBetting, which can produce a larger or smaller return depending on the final margin or performance of an event.

Traditional fixed-odds betting remains available for customers who prefer predictable payouts. That flexibility makes PointsBet more accessible than a platform built only around spread betting. However, the operator may not suit anyone searching for online casino games, slots or a large international payment menu.

Is PointsBet legit in Australia?

Yes. PointsBet operates in Australia under the betting name of PointsBet Australia Pty Ltd, Australian Company Number 606 814 920. The business is licensed in the Northern Territory by the Northern Territory Racing Commission, commonly abbreviated as NTRC, to accept electronic bets around the clock.

This provides a materially different level of consumer protection from an offshore sportsbook. Australian customers use an AUD account, access locally relevant terms and can contact English-speaking support through domestic-facing channels. The platform is also geo-locked to Australia rather than marketed as a global gambling service.

The official PointsBet Australia website is the appropriate starting point for registration, account access and current terms. Customers should avoid unofficial mirror pages, copied promotional sites or links received from unknown sources, especially when entering identification or payment details.

Australian regulation covers more than the website itself. The Australian Communications and Media Authority explains that the Interactive Gambling Act applies to gambling offered online through a website, app or telephone. That broad coverage makes licensing, identity checks, payment controls and responsible gambling tools important parts of the overall product.

ACMA reported in February 2026 that 1,518 illegal gambling and affiliate websites had been blocked since November 2019. That enforcement activity is useful context for comparing domestic operators with offshore alternatives. PointsBet’s Australian licence and local operating structure place it on the regulated side of that divide.

There are also strict rules around payment instruments. Failure to enforce the ban on credit-linked payments and digital currencies can expose operators to civil penalties of up to A$234,750. For customers, the practical result is a payment environment centred on approved Australian methods rather than crypto wallets or informal credit arrangements.

What does PointsBet offer?

PointsBet provides sports betting, racing, spread betting and multi bets. The sports catalogue typically centres on popular Australian and international competitions, while racing coverage connects with established Australian racing data feeds and live racing content.

The operator’s product stack combines a proprietary odds engine with Sportradar data and Racing Australia feeds. That blend supports event discovery, market pricing and settlement workflows across a broad range of sports and races.

Sports betting

Sports customers can generally access common markets such as match winners, handicaps, totals, player lines and same-event combinations, although the exact menu changes by sport and event. Australian favourites remain prominent, with additional international coverage available across major leagues and tournaments.

Market depth is more important than a long list of competitions. A bettor comparing NRL, AFL, cricket, tennis or football prices should check the specific lines available at the time of wagering, because limits, margins and alternative markets can differ between events.

PointsBet’s odds can appeal to customers who shop beyond the headline match-winner market. The platform’s search tools and event navigation are designed to reduce the time spent locating a particular team, player or market, which is especially useful on mobile.

Live betting and in-play markets

PointsBet’s in-play offering includes markets for tennis, esports and golf. Live betting can also appear across other eligible events, subject to availability, data coverage and trading decisions.

In-play betting moves quickly. Prices can change while a selection sits in the bet slip, and some markets may suspend during a goal, point, injury or other material event. Customers should review the final odds and stake before confirming a wager rather than assuming the first displayed price remains active.

For racing customers, live racing streams supported by Sky Racing can add useful context when available. Streaming access, race coverage and any eligibility requirements should be checked inside the account, since availability can vary by jurisdiction and event.

Racing

Australian horse racing is a central part of the PointsBet proposition. Racing Australia feeds support event information, while the platform provides markets across eligible thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meetings.

Racing bettors should pay close attention to the bet type. Fixed win and place wagers offer a familiar structure, while exotics and combinations can increase complexity and the total stake. The app’s bet slip should display the selections and total investment before confirmation.

Some user feedback specifically praises the search function and ease of finding markets, while other reviews mention issues affecting exotics on particular app versions. These comments do not establish a permanent product fault, but they reinforce the value of updating the app before a major meeting.

PointsBetting and spread betting

PointsBetting is the feature that gives PointsBet its name. Instead of receiving a fixed return based only on whether a selection wins, the result can be linked to the final margin or performance of the event.

For example, a margin market may quote a points range. A stake of AU$10 per point can return more if the result exceeds the quoted line, but it can also lose more when the result falls short. The financial outcome therefore depends on both the stake and the final margin.

This format suits experienced bettors who understand variable exposure and actively manage their stakes. It is not automatically better than fixed odds. It simply creates a different risk-and-reward profile and should be used only after reading the market rules.

PointsBetting can magnify both a correct opinion and an incorrect one. Start with a small stake, understand the maximum exposure and never treat spread betting as a guaranteed upgrade on fixed odds.

From a commercial product perspective, this is a meaningful differentiator. Most Australian sportsbooks offer broadly similar fixed-odds menus, while PointsBet gives customers a branded spread-betting experience alongside conventional betting.

PointsBet app review

The PointsBet app is available natively for iOS and Android devices. A native application usually delivers faster access to account tools, saved preferences, notifications and the bet slip than a browser-only experience.

App navigation is one of the more consistent strengths in the available PointsBet reviews. Several users describe the platform as easy to use, with a search feature that helps locate events and reduces the time required for odds comparison.

Google Play feedback is more mixed. One customer praised the support team for responding to a technical issue and releasing an update quickly, while another reported that the bet slip interfered with navigation for some exotics. A separate review complained that certain specials appeared in the app but could not be used.

These reports illustrate a normal distinction between interface quality and account-level availability. An app can be simple to navigate while promotional eligibility, market limits or technical compatibility vary between users. Keeping the operating system and app version current remains sensible.

Using the PointsBet mobile website

The mobile website provides an alternative for customers who do not want to install an application. It can be useful on shared devices or when storage is limited, although the native app may offer a smoother experience for frequent bettors.

On either interface, the most important workflow is straightforward: select the sport, open an event, choose the market, enter the stake and review the potential return before confirming. Customers using PointsBetting should also inspect the per-point stake and understand how the final result determines settlement.

Account security and verification

Australian operators must verify customers and monitor account activity. PointsBet may request personal information, identity documents, payment confirmation or additional details before accepting deposits or processing withdrawals.

Verification can feel slower when a customer expects an immediate payout, but it protects the account and supports regulatory obligations. Using payment details in the account holder’s name, entering accurate personal information and responding promptly to document requests can reduce avoidable delays.

Deposits and withdrawals

PointsBet supports a practical selection of Australian payment methods. Listed deposit options include Visa, Mastercard, PayID, POLi, PayPal, direct bank transfer and cash deposit. The minimum deposit is AU$5, although account-level deposit caps may apply.

Withdrawal options include PayID, direct bank transfer and PayPal. The listed minimum withdrawal is AU$10, and no upper withdrawal cap is specified apart from verification, account controls and responsible gambling limits.

Payment function Available options Important detail
Deposits Visa, Mastercard, PayID, POLi, PayPal Minimum listed deposit: AU$5
Deposits Direct bank transfer, cash deposit Subject to account and payment-provider procedures
Withdrawals PayID, PayPal, direct bank transfer Minimum listed withdrawal: AU$10
Currency AUD Designed for Australian customers
Withdrawal limit No stated upper cap Verification and account controls still apply

PayID is the standout option for speed. PointsBet lists PayID withdrawals as arriving in under one hour, provided the request has passed the relevant checks. Actual timing can depend on verification, bank processing and whether the account meets all withdrawal conditions.

Company technology updates have also focused on faster payments. A Q3 2023 technology presentation described an AI-driven instant payout system that reduced average transaction processing times to under 3.5 minutes. That figure should be treated as a reported average rather than a promise that every withdrawal will arrive within that period.

In a July 2023 financial review, PointsBet reported processed withdrawal volumes above AUD$85 million in one month. High volume demonstrates operational scale, although it does not guarantee an identical experience for every individual customer.

The payment framework does not include cryptocurrency. That is not a disadvantage for customers seeking a regulated Australian sportsbook, and it reflects local restrictions around digital currencies and credit-linked wagering payments.

PointsBet promotions and welcome offers

PointsBet does not list a standard welcome bonus in the supplied Australian product information. That is important because customers should not rely on older overseas reviews or third-party pages promising a current sign-up reward.

Australian wagering promotions operate under strict inducement, advertising and responsible gambling rules. Existing customers may see targeted promotions, odds boosts or sport-specific offers in their accounts, but availability, stake limits, turnover conditions and expiry dates can differ.

Some user reviews praise PointsBet for regular promotions, while others claim that a special was visible but unavailable or required customer support intervention. The sensible approach is to open the offer terms before placing a qualifying bet and confirm that the account is eligible.

Older references to β€œwelcome bonuses” should be treated carefully. A review from another market, a historical offer or an affiliate page can remain online long after the terms change. The current PointsBet account and official website should take priority over archived promotional content.

A February 2022 training analyst estimated A$461,000 in disputed bonus balances across a sample of 8,468 cases. That figure was created for objection-handling drills rather than presented as an audited PointsBet liability, so it should not be interpreted as evidence of a current customer balance problem.

For most Australian bettors, the absence of a standard welcome bonus is less significant than price quality, market availability and withdrawal performance. A promotion has value only when its conditions are clear and the underlying odds remain competitive.

PointsBet odds, pricing and value

Odds determine long-term betting value more reliably than promotional language. PointsBet’s proprietary odds engine, Sportradar integration and racing feeds support a broad pricing operation, but no sportsbook offers the best price on every market.

One customer review describes PointsBet as a source of strong odds, while another says prices are not always the best. Both observations can be true. Pricing moves continuously, and an operator may be particularly competitive on one sport, line or bet type while another book offers a better alternative elsewhere.

A disciplined bettor should compare the headline price, handicap, total and available alternatives before confirming a wager. The app’s search and event layout can make that process efficient, especially when a customer already knows the exact market required.

Multi bets may offer convenience by combining several selections into one ticket, but the combined price also reflects the operator’s margin and the correlation between selections. Read the settlement rules, particularly when combining same-game outcomes or live selections.

PointsBetting requires a separate value assessment. The quoted spread, per-point stake and likely result range should all be considered. A market that appears attractive at a small stake can create materially larger exposure when the stake per point increases.

Customer support and user feedback

PointsBet offers 24/7 live chat, phone and email support in English. Live chat receives particularly favourable mentions in the available review sample, with users describing it as responsive and helpful for sportsbook questions.

One review praises the support team for addressing a minor technical issue and issuing a prompt app update. Another says live chat was useful when resolving an issue related to a promotion. Support quality can vary by query, but accessible channels remain a practical advantage.

The review sample is not uniformly positive. Some customers report slow settlement, app problems or difficulty using specials. A separate reviewer asks for broader soccer totals and faster payouts. These comments are useful signals, not definitive measurements of current performance.

Feedback theme What users report Practical response
App usability Many describe navigation and search as simple Use the latest app version and check the bet slip before confirming
Technical issues Some reports mention layout or exotic-bet problems Try the mobile website and contact support if the issue persists
Odds Some praise competitive pricing; others prefer comparison shopping Compare lines across markets before staking
Promotions Reviews mention frequent offers but occasional eligibility concerns Read the current terms and verify account eligibility
Support Live chat is frequently viewed positively Use chat for the quickest general assistance
Settlement and withdrawals A minority report delays Complete verification and use PayID where available

Review sources include Trustpilot, Google Play, TheGruelingTruth and Covers. Review platforms naturally attract customers with unusually positive or negative experiences, so they should complement rather than replace an assessment of licence, features, payment terms and current product conditions.

Responsible gambling at PointsBet

PointsBet introduced a responsible gaming framework in January 2020 featuring automated spend limits and self-exclusion tools. These controls are important because an effective sportsbook should support account management before betting becomes difficult to control.

Deposit caps, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion can help customers set boundaries. The precise tools and application process should be checked within the account or through support, as responsible gambling settings may affect deposits, bets and account access.

PointsBetBetting deserves particular care because losses and returns can vary with the final margin. A fixed stake that appears modest can produce a substantially different result when applied per point. Customers should establish a maximum affordable loss before using spread betting.

  • Set a deposit limit before placing the first bet.
  • Use only disposable entertainment funds.
  • Keep fixed-odds and PointsBetting stakes separate.
  • Avoid chasing losses after an unsuccessful result.
  • Use a cooling-off period or self-exclusion tool when betting stops feeling recreational.

Responsible gambling is not a restriction to work around. It is part of a well-designed account environment and helps preserve the value of a sportsbook for customers who want controlled, occasional betting.

Why PointsBet does not offer an online casino

PointsBet has no casino game catalogue, and that is intentional in the Australian market. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth) makes it illegal for gambling providers to offer certain online services, including online casinos and online slots, to people in Australia.

Consequently, searches for a PointsBet casino, PointsBet slots or a PointsBet games lobby will not lead to a legitimate Australian product. Customers looking for casino content should not assume that an overseas site using similar branding is connected with PointsBet Australia.

A modelled 2020 lockdown cohort recorded a 27% increase in average mobile casino session frequency, while median session length fell from 18 minutes to 14 minutes. That research relates to broader gambling behaviour, not a PointsBet casino product, so it should not be used to assess this sportsbook.

The lack of casino games can actually improve product clarity. PointsBet focuses its technology, trading and customer support on betting rather than splitting attention across slots, table games and sports. For sports-first customers, the compact scope is a feature rather than a missing category.

Technology and platform reliability

PointsBet migrated its backend architecture to cloud-native servers in October 2017. Company materials associated the change with platform uptime of 99.98%, a useful indicator of technical investment during the operator’s early expansion.

That history aligns with the needs of a modern sportsbook. Betting platforms must process price changes, live data, account actions and settlement events in real time. Cloud infrastructure does not eliminate every outage or app defect, but it can support scale and resilience when properly maintained.

PointsBet reported group revenue of AUD$186.6 million for the nine months ended 31 March 2026. Revenue is not the same as customer value or profitability, but it provides context on the commercial scale behind the Australian betting brand.

The partnership and distribution perspective is also relevant. Operators need reliable data, stable integrations and a clear market fit to retain customers. PointsBet’s use of proprietary pricing alongside Sportradar and Racing Australia feeds reflects that same emphasis on connected, scalable betting infrastructure.

Australian regulation and advertising changes

Australian betting customers operate within one of the world’s more tightly controlled gambling environments. The Interactive Gambling Act reaches websites, apps and telephone services, while national consumer protection rules influence payments, identity checks, advertising and responsible gambling.

The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 proposes a multi-stage ban on sports betting advertisements on free-to-air television. If enacted, the change would alter how sportsbooks communicate with Australian audiences, but it would not remove the ability to access a licensed betting account through approved channels.

Regulation can make promotional information less aggressive and more account-specific. For customers, that means official terms, operator notifications and the account dashboard are more reliable than old bonus-code articles or unverified social media claims.

ACMA’s website provides the clearest public reference point for online gambling enforcement and Australian rules. Customers should also check the current PointsBet terms, privacy policy, betting rules and responsible gambling information before registering.

How to open a PointsBet account

Registration is designed for Australian residents and requires standard personal information. Because PointsBet is geo-locked to Australia, location checks may apply alongside identity and age verification.

  1. Visit the official PointsBet Australia website or download the verified iOS or Android app.
  2. Create an account using accurate personal details.
  3. Complete age, identity and location checks when requested.
  4. Review the betting, payment and responsible gambling terms.
  5. Set a deposit limit before adding funds.
  6. Choose a supported deposit method and begin with a controlled stake.

New customers should not rush through the terms simply to place a first bet. Pay particular attention to PointsBetting settlement, minimum withdrawal requirements, promotion eligibility, account limits and the documentation required for withdrawals.

Who should use PointsBet?

PointsBet is best suited to Australian customers who primarily bet on sports and racing. It is particularly attractive to users who want a specialised mobile sportsbook, domestic payment methods and access to PointsBetting as an alternative to standard fixed odds.

  • Sports bettors who want Australian and international markets.
  • Racing customers who value local meeting coverage and live racing content.
  • Mobile users who prefer a native iOS or Android betting app.
  • Bettors who want PayID deposits and potentially fast PayID withdrawals.
  • Experienced customers interested in variable-return spread betting.
  • Customers who prefer English-language support through live chat, phone and email.

PointsBet may be less suitable for customers who want online casino games, cryptocurrency deposits, a guaranteed sign-up bonus or unrestricted access to every niche market. Those are not weaknesses to overlook; they are simply outside the Australian PointsBet product model.

PointsBet advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

  • Licensed Australian sportsbook operating in AUD.
  • Strong focus on sports, racing and live betting.
  • Distinctive PointsBetting product alongside fixed odds.
  • Native iOS and Android applications.
  • PayID support, with listed withdrawals under one hour after approval.
  • 24/7 live chat, phone and email support.
  • Local payment methods including POLi and cash deposit.
  • Responsible gambling tools such as spend limits and self-exclusion.

Limitations

  • No online casino, slots or general casino game library.
  • No standard welcome bonus listed for the Australian product.
  • Odds may not lead the market on every selection.
  • Promotional eligibility and market limits can vary by account.
  • Some users report app, settlement or payout frustrations.
  • PointsBetting carries greater exposure than a conventional fixed-odds bet.

The advantages outweigh the limitations for a sports-first Australian customer. The limitations become more important only when a bettor is choosing primarily on bonuses, casino content, cryptocurrency or maximum market breadth.

How PointsBet compares with a typical sportsbook

Most regulated Australian bookmakers offer familiar fixed-odds sports betting, racing and mobile access. PointsBet competes through a combination of local licensing, an identifiable app experience, spread betting and a payment system built around Australian customers.

It should not be judged solely by whether it offers the single highest price. A better comparison considers the total account experience: how quickly markets can be found, whether the required payment method is supported, how clear the rules are and how efficiently support handles questions.

For a frequent bettor, small pricing differences matter. For an occasional customer, simple navigation, reliable deposits and clear withdrawal procedures may matter more. PointsBet’s strongest commercial fit sits between those groups: it can serve casual sports customers without removing advanced tools for experienced bettors.

Market availability still deserves a personal check. A customer focused on soccer totals, lower-tier leagues or specialised props may find another operator offers greater depth. A customer focused on Australian racing, mainstream sports and PointsBetting may find the catalogue more than sufficient.

PointsBet customer experience: what to expect

The account journey is generally built around fast event discovery. Search for a team, player or race, select the market and review the bet slip. This reduces the number of screens required to place a routine wager.

Live betting introduces more movement. Suspensions are normal, especially during decisive moments, and displayed prices can change before confirmation. Customers should avoid repeatedly submitting a wager when a market is suspended, because the final accepted price may differ from the initial selection.

Settlement timing can depend on official results, data confirmation and market rules. A customer review complaining about a settlement taking more than 30 minutes reflects an individual experience rather than a published service standard. For disputed settlements, saving the bet ID and contacting support provides the clearest route to review.

The same principle applies to specials. If an offer appears in the app but cannot be applied, take a screenshot, check the terms and ask live chat to confirm the reason before placing a different wager.

Final verdict: is PointsBet any good?

Yes, PointsBet is a good Australian sportsbook for customers who prioritise regulated sports betting, racing, mobile convenience and fast local payments. Its strongest features are the PointsBet app, PayID support, live chat, domestic licensing and proprietary spread-betting format.

It is not the right choice for an online casino search, because PointsBet does not offer casino games and Australian law prohibits the relevant online services. It is also not a bonus-led product with a standard welcome offer in the supplied Australian terms.

The available PointsBet reviews show a broadly positive picture of app simplicity, odds and customer support, balanced by occasional complaints about technical issues, specials and settlement speed. That mixed feedback is typical of a live sportsbook and makes it sensible to test the interface, read the current rules and begin with a modest deposit.

From a product and partnership standpoint, PointsBet has a clear market position: a locally regulated, sports-first operator with a distinctive betting mechanic and infrastructure designed for mobile wagering. For the right Australian bettor, that focused proposition makes PointsBet a credible and worthwhile option.

Always check the current terms, bet within affordable limits and use responsible gambling tools when needed. Gambling should remain entertainment, not a way to recover losses or meet financial commitments.
